I apologize if this is last minute, but I just wanted to inform/remind folks in MW that I will be out of town on Saturday and thus won't be available for raiding, unfortunately.

May any loots you obtain in my absence be phatz.

11/5/09 08:39 am - Good news, bad news.

Good news

Dragon Age is awesome and you should all be ashamed if you are not playing it.

Bad news

I've been drafted to help my brother move into his new house and install his hard-wood flooring this weekend and so I am questionable to be able to raid in WoW. I'll let you guys know as soon as possible when I have a definative answer.

7/30/09 09:40 am - Marvel vs Capcom 2

Red,

I just went 10-1 on Ranked Matches in MvC2 last night and my ego has since nearly tripled. I think it needs to be grounded. Let's set something up (date/time) so you can school me properly.

7/14/09 08:55 pm - It's like they can read our minds, but from the past!

I browse a site called Scans Daily which uploads pictures from various comic books in order to spark discussion. Anyways, today someone went and posted a comic from the 1980s called Amethyst. It's a basic Narnia-type tale of a girl who finds a portal to another world where she becomes some warrior princess. But what caught my attention was that she has a trusty dog companion with her...

... who, to no surprise given the breed and name of the dog, is only the best pet ever!

What was more freaky was that she called her dog by the same short form that I called Taffy.

6/2/09 03:33 pm - FFXIV this year's megaton?

If not for the recent passing of Taffy and my subsequent post in her memory, I'd be very tempted to make a similar post, in tongue-in-cheek fashion, for FFXI as an MMO with the recent annoucement of FFXIV. However, it still doesn't feel right for me.

That being said, I'll just state this: 2010 release date? Is that in Vana'diel time? Cause I've yet to see a FFXIII release date yet.

5/28/09 06:19 pm - You were the best dog ever, Taffy.

In Memoriam: Taffy (1995-2009) )

3/28/09 12:05 pm - Rock Band 2

Hey Dusk,

Next week, one the day that the new Rock Band DLC will be released, do you know what day it'll be?

Only the BEST DAY EVER!

3/13/09 12:24 pm - This has been a good week.

First it was Colbert and his segment on the "Rand Illusion" and then it was the now infamous Jon Stewart vs CNBC (and Jim Cramer) feud.

It's like the writers came together and said: "What are the subjects that Mat always wanted to see mocked and criticized and let's run with that."

Very good week, indeed.

2/23/09 01:42 pm - With games like these...

Last week, I purchased the GTA4 DLC: The Lost and Damned and Street Fighter IV. However after seeing the teaser trailer, the only game I have the real urge to play is Mass Effect.

1/29/09 07:50 pm

OC Transpo strike is finally over. Bare bones service should be up and running in week, hopefully. I'm looking forward to having access to my own PC again.

Final-fucking-ly and stuff.

1/19/09 02:39 pm - I figure some would like to know...

For those of us from the SG/FB crowd, in case you haven't heard, J0hn Ayanami has passed away after being hit by a car while he was riding his bike. He was living in Japan teaching English at the time.

Doom broke the news at FB.

Some of you may also remember him as Sakuragi from FFXI. I only interacted briefly with the guy in the game, but I had long respected him as a poster at SG/SQP/FB/etc...

Very sudden and sad news.

12/11/08 04:59 pm

Thanks to the OC Transpo strike, I'm going to have been at work for 10 hours today... with no overtime.

EDIT: Make that 11 hours.

12/1/08 02:30 pm - Canada jumps on the "Change" bandwagon

Rinding on the coat-tails of America getting their first black President, Canada will be getting their first coalition government.

Stéphane Dion will be leading the coalition.

Fun times.

10/31/08 01:51 pm - I'm sure Ayn Rand was an upstanding, respectful gay-hating lady.

So tomorrow starts the Legend of the Seeker mini-series which is based of Terry Goodkind's first Sword of Truth novel: Wizard's First Rule. Despite my dillusionment with the series, I will definately end up watching it as it's at least based on the first book that got me hooked on the fantasy genre. Plus, Sword of Truth started off as a great series until it became the literary equivalent of giving a blow job to Objectivism. It's sad that it had to come to this because the series was filled with great characters who were a joy to see interact with each other... until their conversations were nothing more than Ayn Rand talking points.

At this time, it seems the series is poised to only focus on the first book while leaving it open for a continuation should it be successful. Hopefully, they focus on the story and fantasy aspect of the series rather than veer off into the propagandic dialogue on rational self-interest.

Seriously, fuck Objectivism.

9/17/08 10:00 am - I'm about to break!

You know what? Singing a Linkin Park song on RB2 is awesome, ok? There, I said it.

7/14/08 01:43 pm - I think it's about time I posted about video games again...

The new setlist for Rock Band 2 has been announced and previous rumored features such as portability of RB1 songs to RB2 have been confirmed. As well, it seems there will be 80 songs on disc avaible because that's all that could be fitted. Therefore, 20 songs will be available for download for FREE when the game is released, making it the game have 100 songs.

Here's the setlist annouced:

Setlist behind the cut )

So needless to say, I'm psyched for this. I'm guaranteed to grab it now, the only question that remains is if Guitar Hero: World Tour will impress me enough to grab it as well. To be honest, the promise of customizable tracks doesn't impress me all that much, so I will need to see a damn good setlist to sway me at this point.

5/26/08 06:45 pm - Work anecdote and B-Day plans Phase 2

I had an pleasant experience today at work that made the day much more enjoyable today. On my floor, I only had one person that was directly next to me, everyone else is at least one cubicle away from me. However, my neighboring colleague has since been promoted and is now training the students being brought in for the summer. Now, I mingle with everyone on my team but given that she was directly next to me, she was obviously the one I interacted with the most. We got along pretty well despite our differences in that I'm a bachelor in my mid-20s and she's a married mother in her late 30s.

Anyways, this is all details to give context as to the awesomeness of what she did for me today. She approached me to ask if I was willing to be paired with one of the students to listen in on my calls. I agreed and she then proceed to ask if I was more comfortable being paired with male or female. I shrugged that it made no difference to me. She then asks "Well then how about one of the cute girls?" I said why not! Figuring it was tongue-in-cheek.

So she comes back with the group of students for the pairing and she then proceeds to assign me the hands down hottest girl of the pack. Let me just iterate here that she was SMOKING HOT! So I spent a good hour and a half with the girl which was definitely the highlight of the day considering some crappy calls that preceded it. After we were done, I went back to my colleague and simply said: "You are awesome!" She smirked and said she thought I'd like it.

Ok, now that that's out of the way and I want to send out the notice of the second plans in honour of my birthday. I want to know what everyone's availability for the next two weekends are like. I'm aiming to have a get together this coming weekend, but if some folks need more notice to make themselves available, I'm more than willing to put it back to the weekend of June 7.

So post a comment here, phone or email me so that I can coordinate something that everyone can come to.

5/5/08 09:35 am - B-Day plans

Hey folks,

My birthday is coming up at the end of the month (May 25th) and given that quarter-life birthday, I thought I'd get some early planning done on hos to celebrate it.

Now I want to include as many people as I can so I want to try to plan something that is convenient for everyone. My ultimate wish, though, would be to have people come over to the cottage during my birthday weekend. Please let me know if this is a possibility for you. Once I gouge everyone's interest in this, I'll get a better idea of what I can realistically do. Now, I also don't mind splitting the event in two, meaning spend the weekend at the cottage with the people who can come and then make another event later to include more people.

In any case, let me know what interests you so I can plan this out more thoroughly and then give early enough notice to folks who would need to free up some time.

3/11/08 01:46 pm - A few comments from playing SSBB with Dusk, Yalt and Scissors last night:

- My ego is getting some mighty fine stroking at this time.

- Choosing Olimar just for kicks to fight Yalt and then finding out he also picked Olimar made me "lol" pretty good.

- Speaking of which, I'm currently on an undefeated streak when using Olimar, yet I'm still scratching my head at HOW I'm winning with the guy.

- The rooms I create seem to have a "No Dusks allowed" sign attached to it.

- Everytime I assemble Kirby's glider, my crosshairs seem to ALWAYS wind up on Yalt for some reason. 0:)

3/4/08 04:03 pm - To all O-town homies (SSBB related)

Folks, with that magical date (March 10) closing in soon, we should also look ahead and plan a good ol' get-together to play some SSBB (and possibly Rock Band, since Rock Band makes every get-together that much more awesome).

My money is on the weekeend probably being a better time for everyone to be available, but I'm open to any other suggestion since I'm able to accomodate myself to nearly any time (even if it means using some sick days!)

Let me know what you think would be best and let's make this work damnit!
